Crackheadz Gone Wild - New Mixtape and Volume 2
Headliners Productions and Monkey Hustle Films hit the streets in 2005 with Crackheadz Gone Wild, the popular series meant to both entertain and educate on the drug problem still plaguing many inner cities. Now with Crackheadz Gone Wild: New York, Volume 2 on the streets and the correlating music project, Crackheadz Gone Wild: The Mixtape, an upcoming feature film, a cartoon and a book on the horizon, the possibilities are endless.
After the Headliners Productions team of Kyron Hodges and Winfield Gillespie teamed with Lorenzo Hightower, CEO of Monkey Hustle Films, they knew they had something special. The first edition of Crackheadz Gone Wild: New York has sold over 60,000 copies independently to date. Volume 2 takes the comedy up a notch, with skits added to the documentation.
“It’s not about crack heads anymore,” explains Hodges. “We’re showing people the worst of the ghetto, and entertaining people at the same time.”
In conjunction with the DVD, the team recently released Crackheadz Gone Wild: The Mixtape. Hosted by Hot 97’s DJ Envy, the project features some of today’s hottest emcees, including Jay-Z, 50 Cent, Young Jeezy, Ludacris, Freeway, Jae Millz, Papoose and Fabolous. Most notably, Headliners Entertainment’s own DuGotti “The Boss” holds down two tracks on the mixtape, and the company has plans to complete DuGotti’s independent album this year.
